Xhosa Translator
Xhosa is one of the official languages of the Republic of South Africa. It is a Bantu language, and is spoken by about 7.9 million people, which constitutes 18% of the population of South Africa. A rather unique attribute of the Xhosa language is the use of click consonants. Even the word Xhosa, i.e. the name of the language begins with such a consonant. Xhosa is the second most used language spoken in South African homes, and is the main language of instruction in numerous primary schools and even in several secondary schools. The most prominent Xhosa speaker is undoubtedly the former president, Nelson Mandela.
Harcz & Partner Ltd. disposes over several native speakers of Xhosa, who work through our company on a regular or occasional basis. Thanks to their expertise and language knowledge, we can offer our clients English into Xhosa translation and Xhosa into English translation, editing and proofreading. Since Xhosa is an exotic language, and the number of professional translators is limited, it costs more than the major languages (e.g. Spanish, Russian or Italian) but we can offer affordable rates thanks to our well-established freelancers.
In addition to Xhosa translators, we also have linguists representing other languages of South Africa. We can translate from English into Afrikaans, Zulu, Ndebele, Sotho, Swazi, Tswana, Tsonga, Venda and Northern Sotho, and from each of these into English as well. The deadlines need to be less tight than what we can offer for the major languages of the world but the quality will be the same.
We prefer to quote a price for each individual translation project in the knowledge of its parameters, such as turn-around, volume, subject matter and technical complexity, especially in the case of minor languages like these, in which we only have a couple of translators per language. Our rates for the editing of documents supplied by our clients depend on the quality of the text we need to edit.
Harcz & Partner Ltd. is eager to put its experience and language knowledge to use on your next South African translation project. (Continued below the image.)
